John Middleton
An Introduction to Fine Wine

John Middleton has been a lecturer in higher education for 15 years and has taught management, economics, philosophy and teacher education on the postgraduate level.  He has designed and delivered courses in fine wine for more than 10 years and acted as a regional tasting consultant to the world's premier wine merchant, Oddbins (London), as well as to Europe's leading on-line wine merchant, Laithwaites.  He has also contributed articles on fine wine to various newspapers, magazines and Web sites in the UK, and has travelled widely in the world of wine, hosting hundreds of wine-tastings in the USA, South Africa, France, Spain, and his native England.  He spent a year working at a vineyard in Burgundy, France, as a means of comprehending the process of wine-making in its totality.  His formal wine education has been with the prestigious London-based Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) and resulted in awards graded with distinction.  He has been an accredited tutor with the WSET since 2003 and taught wine to degree and postgraduate level students in the hospitality industry.
