Jason comes to us with outstanding academic credentials, an extensive
background in the field of psychology, and a broad range of teaching
experiences. He holds a BA and a BS in psychology, as well as a
master’s degree in clinical psychology from the University of Capetown.
He has held various posts as therapist, clinical psychologist, and
lecturer at a diverse range hospitals, government agencies, and
universities, where his professional duties and responsibilities have
included assessment, diagnosis, case management, therapy and other
treatments, and clinical services covering a range of emotional,
behavioural, and psychiatric difficulties for adolescents
(separation/individuation, sexuality, peer relationships, substance
abuse, family dynamics etc.); children (special-needs learning and
learning disabilities, Aspergers Syndrome, ADHD, and other learning
barriers; psychometric assessment, therapeutic input, supervision and
management of facilitators for children with severe learning problems,
and coordination of families with professional agencies);
families/general (therapy to adults, adolescents and children with
various psychological problems, including mood disorders, anxiety
disorders, personality disorders, substance abuse, marital problems,
major depression and suicidality, phobias, PTSD and anxiety, eating
disorders, self-mutilation, psychosis, bipolar-affective disorders,
etc.. Treatment modalities included individual short- and
long-term therapy ‘CBT and Psychodynamic’, play therapy for younger
children, as well as psychotherapy and cognitive-behavioural therapy for
individuals, couples, families, and groups. Jason has served in various
clinics and hospital wards, including inpatient psychotherapeutic wards,
inpatient male admissions and psychotic wards, inpatient crisis
management and therapeutic wards, and cognitive behavioural and child
guidance clinics, providing a range of services including intensive
milieu-therapy techniques (group therapy and evocative),
neuropsychological psychometric assessment of people with head injuries,
hydrocephalus, and various types of brain tumours. Additionally, Jason
has taught, counselled, and advised at various schools and universities
and has lectured at psychological conferences on topics such as healing
through dialogue and exploring similarities in Eastern and Western
Psychology. Jason is a registered clinical psychologist in South Africa
and a member of the British Psychological Society.
