Whether you envision yourself acting
on the Broadway stage, the big screen, at your local community theatre,
or even in corporate/commercial pieces, this course provides the
necessary skills to render a performance that is exceptional,
consistent, and flowing. Come and learn in an environment that is
friendly and supportive, where you will put a variety of techniques and
methodologies into practice through:
-
scene study (analyzing scenes in
various scripts from the actor’s perspective; exploring techniques for
character development through action, motivation, and relationships
within the scene).
-
scene work (reading, performing, and discussing scenes).
-
a diverse range of exercises,
"theatre games", and activities to optimize voice and breathing,
speech and articulation, movement, isolations and combin-ations,
freeing the body, utilizing space, sense memory, emotional recall,
personalization and substitution, and more.
-
improvisation activities (i.e.
once you have the author's words and actions crystallized in your
mind, you personalize them through a series of challenging
improvisations, using your own words to invent significant moments of
your character's life that do not appear in the text).
Come and explore your creativity in
a friendly and supportive environment, and learn to identify the mental,
physical, and emotional aspects of tapping into the resources deep
within yourself in order to master any character/role that you are
called upon to play. From preparation to performance, this course will
give you all tools necessary to ace every performance! Film and
television issues/techniques are also covered.
